John Mitchell - Coach of the 2011 Curry Cup Winning Team, the Lions
John Mitchell is a noted former rugby union player and former coach for the New Zealand All Blacks.
In 2010, he was appointed coach of the Golden Lions for the 2010 Currie Cup. Later that year he was appointed the coach of the Super Rugby side, the Lions.
In 2011 the Lions won the Curry Cup, their first South African Championship win since 1999.

Braam Malherbe - Extreme Athlete, Global Adventurer, Top Speaker and Television Presenter
Braam Malherbe completed a world first when he ran the entire length of the Great Wall of China in one go! That's distance of over 4, 200kms at a rate of over a marathon per day! Then he completed a second world first at the end of 2008, running from Namibia to Mozambique following the South African coastline – a distance of over 3, 300kms. Braam recently returned from Antarctica, where he took part in the grueling Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race to the Pole. Braam and Peter van Kets represented South Africa in one of the most extreme races in the world, a 704km odyssey across Antarctica to mark the centenary of the first-ever trip to the South Pole in 1912. They finished the race on 29 January 2012 in third place.

He has just returned from an unsupported race across Antarctica to the South Pole to commemorate Scott and Amundsens race 100 years ago. As part of a two man South African team they made South African history becoming the first Africans to ever race to the pole.

Sibusiso Vilane – “Beyond Everest”
First South African, and the first black person in the world, to complete the Three Poles Challenge!
On Thursday 12 April 2012, Sibusiso Vilane became the first South African, and the first black person in the world, to complete the Three Poles Challenge, when he arrived at the North Pole. Sibusiso overcame the harsh environment and a 112km trek on foot to achieve a life-long ambition. He has already conquered Mount Everest, the Andes, and the South Pole. In January 2008 Sibusiso Vilane and his partner Alex Harris were also the first South Africans to complete an unsupported and unassisted walk to the Geographic South Pole, earning them the title of 2007 “Out There” magazine Adventurers of the Year’!

In a world first, almost incredibly, Riaan Manser was the first person to cycle around the perimeter of the continent of Africa. It took him two years, two months and fifteen days. He rode 36 500 kilometres through 34 different countries.
In 2009 Riaan again set another world first when he became the first person to circumnavigate the world’s fourth largest island of Madagascar by kayak; another expedition achieved alone and unaided.

Cameron van den Burgh - 2012 Olympic Gold Medal Winner • World-Record Holder
On 29 July 2012 Cameron van den Burgh won the first gold medal for Africa at the 2012 London Olympics, and set a new World Record for the 100 meter breaststroke.
Cameron is considered one of the strongest breaststrokers in the world over short distance. In 2010 the South African champion confirmed his international supremacy as one of the world’s strongest breaststrokers. At the October Commonwealth Games, he won gold in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, and at the World Short Course Championships in Dubai in December, he won the world title for the 100m breaststroke, while picking up a silver medal at the 50m distance.

Alex Harris – “Conquerors of Antarctica: A Story about Persistence and Guts”

In 2008 Alex and his partner Sibusiso Vilane were the first South Africans to complete an unsupported and unassisted walk from Hercules Inlet, on the edge of Antarctica, to the Geographic South Pole. It was a journey that took 65 days and covered almost 1200km. It was, in Alex’s words, ‘the hardest thing he had ever done’.
